    Hate Crime Bill Passes!!!

I’ve been waiting for this moment for a very long time.  All that is left is for President Obama to pass it, and he will by the end of the month!!!

Now, let the hate crime bill do what it is supposed to do:  penalize thoughts!!!  :)  Sorry—I couldn’t resist.  As anyone with a brain knows, the Hate Crime Legislation has nothing to do with criminalizing thoughts—only violence.  All you have to do is read the bill.  It specifically says (in order to appease the religious right who would rather the Hate Crime Bill not pass) that free speech is not involved.

Now on to other issues—getting rid of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.  Passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.  Getting rid of the Defense of Marriage law.

I agree. Bush could have signed it as well. The problem for the religous right is that they did not want any legal recognition of gay people. Once that occured (and it did today) at the federal level, that means we really exist and ultimately it means that being gay and lesbian is not a choice.

There is no ligament reason this Bill should not have been passed long ago, as we already have precedent saying that Minorities should be protected, and thats all this Bill does is include a minority that has been excluded.
